One week down...

Seven more to go!

Work has been fabulous on the regular. the Look Book shoot was on friday, and everything looked beautiful. It was soooooooo awesome to see it all happen, and be able to help out. Of course I'll post a link when its up on the site.

Friday night we all went to see SATC2, which I felt was rather dull. afterwards I had a really bad migrane, so i was lame and went to bed. but the next day we had our double-decker bus tour and finally saw alot more of the city. shopping ensued. That night I met up with my high-school friend and we went out for a bit with my roommate, and had our first NY creeper experience.

Then the most magical thing happened:

I could finally sleep in. it was delicious.

ran errands/explored. and that night we went to dinner in Times Square at Mars 2112 which was REALLY corny but very fun nonetheless. then the first night of getting crunk in nyc began. started and ended at the Continental drink specials were incredible, and with it being Fleet-week, marines were a-plenty and buying. Arielle and I stumbled home, had a good ol' drunken chat, I made a fool of myself to J$, and then went to bed.

woke up and headed to Coney Island for "the day". or at least that was the plan. a SUPER long subway ride later we arrive at the shadiest place Ive been to yet. a beach full of gangstas, gangsters, wangsters, thugs etc etc etc. working our way thru the thick crowd we layed our plot. we soon found out we were in perfect view of 4 trash-tastic females in g-strings. and they let everyone on the beach know it. Random men, boys, women, and girls we allowed the pleasure of rubbing oil on their bare-asses. it was just awful. we left as the gang fights were beginning. truth. no exaggerating. but we nabbed some famous Nathan's Hotdogs on the way. pretty good i'd say.

we came home, changed/freshened up, and headed to the luxurious fifth avenue to visit the 4-floor Abercrombie & Fitch Flagship store. it was huge and wonderful. just like the male models out front. on the way back to the subway station, we also passed every designer's store i could imagine. I was wet. it was incredible.

week 2 involves a Broadway show, Billy Elliot to be exact. but i think thats the only even i know of so far. Here's hoping all goes well! :)

The First Day!

Had my first day on the job today! what a fabulous experience! Ran errands like crazy, i've never done so much walking, but i really know my way around now, so hooray!

my poor feet are killing me tho. i haven't gotten desperate enough to wear tennis shoes or anything yet, but the summer is young, i'm thinking some ever-sexy Birkenstocks tho, or just some moccasins. who knows. but the blisters and my newly developed limp certainly are't doing me any good.

The update for friends

SOOOOO many people are asking for the deets! Unfortunately, University of Dreams keeps surprising us with last minute meetings, classes, etc to attend so I haven't had much down time to text/call/facebook chat. Here's my story so far:

After a dee-lightful late night visit from Kendall, I got 2 hours of sleep before waking up at 4:00am to finish packing and head to the airport. Flight left at 8:00 and it was and extra boring 3-hour flight, with the worst movie to watch: ToothFairy. sick.

After having to circle LaGuardia due to bad visibility I finally arrive and get my huge bags and get in a legit taxi with a legit Russian driver. I get to the dorm and immediately sign-in with a thousand different people, and have to walk about 20 minutes to another building to get my ID. (first hour in NYC and they send me to walk 10 blocks away = terror) I make it back alive, and finally get to my room.

I meet one roomie, Arielle, and then pass out on my bare mattress for about an hour. I have SUCH a headache at this point, I could barely see straight. I officially claimed my bed when I awoke to see the huge drool puddle I left. With my headache somewhat subsided, i unpacked some things and soon Arielle returned and we hit the streets!

Just walked aimlessly. take a left? why not! Its not like we knew where anything was! i first directed us to Pinkberry though, cuz i was STARVING and it was divine! wander wander wander, head back to the room, met the other roomies; Min & Yifan, and headed to a welcome dinner from UoD (University of Dreams. Sounds pretty homo until they land you an internship in New York!) then off to an early bedtime.

This morning we had Orientation where we went over rules, policies, boring boring boring. Arielle and I had lunch at PIE, a small pizza place that turned out to be INCREDIBLE! we wandered some more and soon headed back for another session of meetings, then off to do practice runs to and from work.

Mine is about a 30 minutes walk, (which goes straight toward the Empire State Building) or 15 minute subway ride. Since I'm not very familiar with the Subway yet, I'm going to walk there for my first day, and then maybe take it home, depending on my mood.

So far I'm LOVING the whole city, but there's much much much more to see and do!

I Have Arrived!

Day TWO of being in NYC!
things have been extra busy (thanks for all the surprise schedule of activities UofD) but so far I'm lovin the city :)

It's so hard not to go buy a thousand things, there's no many places to go! but tomorrow is my first day at the internship, can't believe its actually here. and then ice-cream social tomorrow night. awwwready. gettin' my mack on, surely.

Check me out in my little dorm room :)

The Countdown

4:00 the alarm goes off for me to finish packing (some laundry is still drying) and head to the airport. Eeeeek. Can't believe it's actually here. The next post will contain pics for sure and will be taking place in NYCCCCCCC :)

The (something else intellectual-sounding)

The sister arrives tomorrow. Gotta put my closet and shoe collection on lockdown or there will be blood.

Since I haven't left the hous on way over 24 hours, I'll merely post items on my newest online-window-shopping wishlist.

Someone please buy me these before I have a heart attack.

The Preparation

-clothes
-laptop
-laptop sleeve
-nice sandals
- camera
- everything else nessesary

How's that for a good list? Getting antsy about this for sure. Went and bought a bunch of relavant book s at B&N yesterday. Some sort of guide to NYC was first priority and I'm already done reading it. AND it was a long one, aren't I just a speedy reader?

I got a fabulous new Macbook to fulfill my "laptop" requirement. I'm loving the thing so far, but no internet on it yet, so its just me + photobooth + itunes for now. All this hoop-lah is being done on the mom's computer; but soon, very soon I'll be in full use of my Mac-aroni.

The biggest thing on my mind aside from OBVIOUSLY the move to NY, I've grown quite tired of my long blonde locks. I'm diggin' the "long" part, but the blonde is starting to fade with my general age and present and future lack of sun exposure. In past years, marching band and playtime outside kept me wonderfully lightheaded -- literally. But now I have noticed in picture that im beginning to dim to a non very vidid shade, and not likin' it at all. Mother HATES the idea, but I'm still interested. Im mighty concerned about the issues of roots though. How's that for awkward? Brown hair : blonde roots......

but how can I resist?

The Preface

"I like to think I'm pretty neat.
Few thing bring me greater joy than crossing something off a to-do list.
I'll make a list for anything and everything.
I utilize Glad-baggies and Index cards whenever possible.
Restaurants that give you free bread are best."

Thats what my Facebook and Myspace say at least.
Pretty boring, but holds true nonetheless. I love that bread.

My name's Meagan, I'm a fashion design student at Texas Tech. This summer I'll be interning in New York City. As exciting as that sounds, I'm terrified. Ontop of that, I've never been to NYC before, and I'm less than a week away from moving-in there. (to a dorm with three other girls, no less) Thus adding to my inevitable anxiety.

I could talk for days about myself, but I believe my personality and character will be revealed as the days go by.
