Its time we Met :)

Soooooo this week we by kinda slow at first, but certainly picked up toward the end. Arielle went out of town on friday :(
Somehow Pauleen and I actually had energy to go out on Friday. (this rarely happens) we had dinner at the Old Town Bar (what a creative name) and then got dressed and headed out. Our original plans fell thru but we decided to salvage the night with a Fishbowl at BarNone . Turns out, half a fishbowl is ALL you need. we were trashed, and it was wonderful. a good ending to a potentially shitty night. she has some adorable pics, but she never uploads hers. jerk.

the next morning-- well afternoon, I woke up feeling fine (surprisingly) and Pauleen and I headed to the Metropolitan Museum Of Art. just gorgeous things everywhere, I loved it. Once again, its just breathtaking to be surrounded by things Ive been studying my whole life.

hey.

then we had some dindin at an alright place on the upper east side. just some pizza. but they gave free bread, so i was a happy camper.
after some other plans, we met up with our friend Laura and had drink with her dad, and went to an apartment party (funsies) and then, just to keep the fun rolling, back to Bar None, but no fishbowls this time. just drinks and drinks and drinks and bed.

Today had a chill day and just did some shopping, then Arielle got back and we all went back to blockheads for some fab mexican food.

I can't believe how soon I'll be headed home!

This week:
The Whitney?
The Guggenheim?
Fondue?
Central Park?
Aquarium?
Museum of Natural History?
suggestionsssss!!!!!

Half Full? Half Empty?

Week 4 has begun. Very soon i'll reach the official halfway point. CRAZYYYY

Soooooo the Yankees game was pretty cool, and i stayed a lot longer than i thought. Took a luscious nap afterwards tho. Footlong hotdog and a bag of M&Ms for $16? alright....... i guess. the hotdog was pretty divine tho. Ive never found a foot-long i didn't like. (toooooo good of a joke. i insult myself for a good laugh.)

After my previously-mentioned luscious nap, we got ourselves looking fabulous and headed uptown to Blockheads to get some cheap thrills -- er, margaritas. The tacos very delish, and i had a watermelon marg and a coconut one as well. life was good.

Pauleen and i went to follow Karli to a party in little Italy, which turned out BALLIN.

Rooftop?
check.
View of the Empire State Building?
check.
Sweet apartment?
check.
DJ?
check.
Booze?
check.
Ipad?
touched it.
check.
VIP?
check. but turns out it was an empty closet....

regardless, its was wicked fun (my Boston is showing. Thanks Arielle)

Now its back to the workweek. Working on my designs, hoping one will tickle Mara's pickle. Next weekend we're going on a trip to Washington DC, so hooooray! back to doing tourist things. it'll feel good. a 4-hour bus ride with 200 college kids. great.

Pre-Weekend #3

Well it was my first full 5 days of work and it honestly flew by like no other. Now that there aren't as many errands, my feet can return to normal state of disrepair, and not swollen, sore, and covered in city grime. Also in the less hectic work enviro, there had been time for sketching and designing, which I have been delighted to partake in. Finally, designated time for such a craft.

hmmmmmm what happened this week......

Tuesday we went to Serendipity for their famous frozen hot chocolate. Pauleen and I split one and a piece of cheesecake, which was the best I've ever had. So fluffy, but so creamy and heavy at the same time. Perf. They also had giant menus. Cool.

Thursday night, Arielle and I had a Champagne and Strawberries laundry date. it was quite romantic, and really rekindled the flame in our relationship.

And finally, to celebrate friday-funday, Arielle, Pauleen & I walked around for an hour trying to find a suitable restaurant and finally discovered Piola, a super-presh, World Cup crazed pizza place just a mere 2 blocks from the dorm. We had delicious bruschetta and some pizza before retiring to our rooms.

Going out on Fridays is too too draining, and hardly enjoyable. Tomorrow we're headed to the Yankees game, and they happen to be playing the Astros (Holla!) so I thought that was a cool coincidence. I'll probably leave early though, baseball was never my game of choice, but I'll certainly go for some of it. Afterwards, I may try another museum, or maybe some central park public napping in the sun. Ballin'.

Weekend No. 2

It's Saturday night and I'm about to soak my aching feet with Arielle. I'm far too exhausted to go out like I do when I'm at school. It's sick.

This week work went by soooooooo fast. I took the train to jersey. twice. which is really kind neat, considering I've never been on a train before, and now I feel like a pro. Friday I got off work EXTRA early and i was thrilled to actually have time to explore some more. I took the subway to Soho and was instantly in love.

Thursday i rushed back to the dorm to meet up with the whole UoD group to go see my first broadway show, Billy Elliot. it was soooooooo good!!! I usually HATE musicals and all that, but this was just wonderful. I'm so glad I went.

Last night we went out with Arielle's friend, Tom. got din-din at the Penny Farthing, which has an incredible grilled cheese! I was in love. and then shots galore at Continental as usual. got my ID denied at Pour House (although it was my 3rd visit) because my ID says blue eyes, and mine are green. How this bouncer could even tell what color they were in this dark-ass bar is beyond me. but we left and went one block down to Bar None, and had a fab time. Came back and had a drunk ol' time in the dorm.

Today, Arielle and I went to the Moma and it was absolutely wonderful. I literally saw everything I studied in Art History III and I was really excited to see things I recognized and knew about. and about 30% of the pieces I recognized I instantly thought "you bastard, you were on that test I studied my ass off for" Few things are as relaxing and exciting as a museum visit. Afterwards we strolled up and down Madison Avenue and stopped for a deeelish snack at Crumbs. I had a big Red Velvet cupcake and a milk. what could be better?

After naps, we had a late dinner at Friend House, and it was very good. Anything is good when you start out with champagne and strawberry puree (and unexpectedly GREAT shrimp skewers, when I ordered chicken) But no bars for me tonight, tomorrow I vow to shop and be merry and write a paper or two fro this stupid course credit stuff, which i'll likely less-tha-half-ass it, because theres NO chance this "credit" will transfer to Tech. (boo) but I don't want to "fail" for no good reason.

anyways! here i go.

breathtaking in person!

oh no

I'm starting to get home-sick.

well not home-sick.

lubbock-sick
(hard to believe)

i wanna see the sky.
i want dry-heat.
i want heterosexual, english-speaking, 21+ males.
I want my usual bars with un-scary doormen.
and most importantly, i want sleep.
maybe all this is just today.
except the sleep.
the sleep will be a permanent problem.
